Where will my Myofascial Release or Energy Balancing session take place?
Your session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

Must I be completely undressed?
Myofascial Release techniques are traditionally performed with the male client wearing loose fitting gym shorts and for women sports bra and loose fitting shorts are worn. You are properly covered using a sheet at all times to keep you warm and comfortable .  For Energy Balancing sessions you will stay in your clothes at all times..

Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress and will leave the room at the end of the treatment session so you can get dressed.

Will I be covered during the session?
You will be wearing loose fitting shorts and sports bra for females and loose fitting shorts for men for Myofascial Release. For Energy Balancing sessions you will stay in your clothes fully dressed. For all sessions you will be properly covered by a sheet at all times to keep you warm and comfortable.

Why is my therapist treating my whole body rather than my specific area of pain?
In Myofascial Release we are trained to look at the entire body, not to just focus on where the symptoms are. Since the fascia is a head to toe body suit without interuption and a 3 dimensional multi layered system the cause of the problem can be related to any where within the fascial web of the body.

What should I do during a bodywork session?
Prior to the session, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the session, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Myofascial Release is interactive. The patient’s input and responses during the session give the therapist information on their fascial system. The client pays attention to what and where they are feeling sensations in their body this is the way the body speaks to us which we call the fascial voice.
You may also feel your body wants to move and shift position during treatment which we call fascial unwinding. It is encouraged to follow these promtings from your body and allow it to unwind.
For Energy Balancing session's many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

How will I feel after a bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

What if my symptoms start feeling worse?
You are experiencing what is called a healing crisis-sometimes you feel worse before you feel better. Why does this happen? This occurs as you begin to release into the deeper layers of restrictions. Not only can the symptoms intensify, but also other sensations or emotions may come to the surface. Usually this process lasts around 48 hours, but can go on longer. This is your body's way of bringing your awareness into what your are actually dealing with everyday, but you "tune out" and don't feel. At times, it can feel like you are taking two steps forward and one step backwards. If you do experience feeling worse this is the time you want to self treat to assist those restrictions to release.

What are the benefits of bodywork?
Myofascial Release and Energy Balancing can help release chronic muscular and fascia tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Myofascial Release and Energy Balancing is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are there any medical conditions that would make bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. You will fill out a health intake form before your session starts. It's imperative that, before you begin your session, that you and the  practitioner discuss the information you wrote on the health intake form and any other general health information you can give the practitioner about yourself. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
